My Antonia Book Discussion

My Antonia by Willa Cather.

First published in 1918, My Antonia is the tale of the spirited daughter of a Bohemian immigrant family planning to
farm in Nebraska. The reader gets to know Antonia through the eyes of Jim Burden, who lives on his grandparents’
neighboring farm. Nostalgically, Burden tells of the good and bad times that he and Antonia experienced. He paints
a vivid portrait of Antonia as a downtrodden, yet tough and independent, survivor.

"No romantic novel ever written in America, by man or woman, is one half so beautiful as My Antonia."
--H.L. Mencken
