Fiddling Convention a Huge Success

The First Annual SC State Fiddling Championship drew record crowds to the Hagood Mill this weekend. 

Several officials on the Pickens County Cultural Convention told Patch that they'd never seen so many people at the Hagood. 

Saturday was a step back into the past as contestants in the Fiddling Championship showed off their skills playing ole-time music. 

The state championship was held in conjunction with the Pickens Ole Time Fiddling Convention, which has been held at the mill for 16 years. 

Sen. Larry Martin and Rep. Phil Owens read the resolution passed by the state legislature that officially names the Hagood Mill the site of the state's Fiddling Championship.
