
on Saturday was able to contain a fire at a West Main Street apartment to one room.
The fire department was called to 505 W. Main St., apartment No. 5, and could see light smoke coming from the apartment.
The fire was contained with 10 minutes, but crews remained on the scene for several hours as they tried to salvage items from the residence. The smoke detectors did not activate in the apartment, according to Capt. Barry Bridges.

The cause of the fire has been ruled accidental. No one was injured in the incident.
