Fiscal Showdown Event Planned for Monday
Organizers want to urge Rep. Jeff Duncan to not support cuts to Social Security, Medicaid or Medicare.

An event slated for Monday afternoon aims at showing Rep. Jeff Duncan his constituents are passionate about supporting Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid.Â
The Fiscal Showdown Event is slated for Monday, Decemeber 10 at 2pm at the Rep. Duncan's Anderson offices, according to Paulette Keffas-Chassin, who is organizing the event with the help of MoveOn.org.Â
MoveOn is coordingating Fiscal Showdown events at Congressional offices all over the country that day. Â

"The purpose is to make sure Rep. Duncan knows he represents constituents who do not want cuts to  Social Security, Medicare or Medicaid, that the wealthiest Americans need to have their tax rates slightly increased - similar rate as under Clinton," she said. "We voted to end tax cuts to the wealthy in November. Rep. Duncan needs to know his Upstate constituents will not settle for a bad deal.
Activist John Painter, the former chairman of the Pickens County Democratic Party was spreading the word about the event Saturday.Â

He said Duncan and other politicians need to understand their constituents want a "balanced approach to managin the nation's fiscal crisis."
