Foothills Arts Festival is May 18
Festival will celebrate the arts, including woodworking, sketching, storytelling, music and more.

Foothills Arts Festival will be hosted by Arts Council of Pickens County on May 18.th Committee members have a fun filled day planned that will entertain everyone from the art entrepreneur to the person who may be viewing art for the first time!
Living artists will be on site demonstrating their skills and crafts during the day. Woodworking, caricature sketches, storytelling, painting, and more will fill the tents of the living artists for the community to enjoy. Artists will be available to discuss the process through which they create pieces of art to sell or share with others.
Music will fill the fresh spring air from the live performing artists on the amphitheater stage. Musicians of various styles will appear on stage singing and playing for audiences all day long. Dancers from area studios will entertain audiences displaying different genres from the art of dance. Local actors will present short scenes from plays happening in the area. Poets will be reading original works for people to enjoy.

Local restaurants will be on site serving up their cuisine and demonstrating culinary arts. Vicki Ciplickas of the Starving Artist Café has developed a Pastry Art Contest for the local restaurants to participate in.
By combining all art forms into a single event, there will be something for everyone to enjoy! Children will have interactive art activities to experience the wonders of creativity first hand. All activities are free for the public to enjoy.

The committee is still taking applications from local artists, artisans, and restaurants for the event. For more information on being an exhibitor or to participate as a living artist contact Suzanne Goodman at sgoodski@aol.com.
The Arts Council of Pickens County formed last year.
The non-profit's mission is the promotion and advancement of the literary, visual and performing arts in the area.
They hope to create new arts events in the area, support existing artists and artistic events, and work with area schools to promote the arts.
Membership is open to artists or artisans who have a strong desire to see the arts flourish in Pickens County, residents who strongly support the arts in the community and students with a passion for the arts who wish to assist the Arts Council with their mission.
Membership dues are $60 a year.
