Wofford, a former standout wide receiver at Spartanburg High and Clemson University, died Friday morning while riding his motorcycle in Moore.

The crash occurred at about 11:15 a.m. at the intersection of Reidville Road and Plateau Street, near Highway 417. According to the S.C. Highway Patrol, Wofford, 34, was riding his 2008 Yamaha motorcycle west on Reidville Road when a vehicle turned into his path.

Wofford, who was wearing a helmet, was pronounced dead at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center 20 minutes after the crash.

The crash remains under investigation by the Highway Patrol.

According to an article on GoUpstate.com, Wofford played a key role in Spartanburg High winning back-to-back state football championships in 1994 and 1995. He is remembered by many fans for a Hail Mary reception that bested Dorman High with no time on the clock in 1994, the article reads.
