Greenville Novelist Matt Matthews to Discuss Book March 6

Tri-County Technical College will host Matt Matthews, who'll discuss his Southern coming-of-age novel Mercy Creek.

Greenville novelist Matt Matthews will discuss his award-winning Southern coming-of-age book, Mercy Creek, Wednesday, March 6, at Tri-County Technical College.

The event, which is sponsored by the College’s Enrichment Series Committee, will be held from 1:20 - 2:20 p.m. in the Marshall Parker Auditorium on the College’s Pendleton Campus. It is free and open to the public.

Mercy Creek tells the story of 16-year-old Isaac, who is trying to make the confusing transition from child to young man. He makes many revelations about himself and life as he begins to dig deeper into the mysteries of his small Southern town.

Published by Hub City Press in 2011, Mercy Creek won the South Carolina Arts Commission First Novel Prize and the 2012 Bronze IPPY award in regional fiction of the Southeast.

Matthews studied journalism at Virginia Commonwealth University, then attended Union Seminary in Richmond, Virginia. He serves as pastor at St. Giles Presbyterian Church in Greenville.
