Haley Will Name DeMint's Replacement Monday

Gov. Nikki Haley is expected to announce the person who will replace Sen. Jim DeMint at noon today.

State law gives the Republican governor the authority to pick DeMint's successor.

DeMint announced less than two weeks ago that he would resign Jan. 1 to take the helm of national conservative think tank, Heritage Foundation.

Patch looked at some of the likely candidates shortly after the vacancy was announced. But a list of five--that included Jenny Sanford--emerged last week.
