Holy Trinity Episcopal's Bazaar and Artisan Market to Benefit Charities

Event set for 10am - 2pm Saturday, December 1

For more years than anyone can remember, the women of Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in Clemson, SC, have sponsored an annual bazaar on the first Saturday of December to raise funds for community charities. Proceeds have been used to support groups like Clemson Community Care, Our Daily Bread of Seneca, The Salvation Army (Oconee and Pickens), and Helping Hands of Clemson.

Scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 1 from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m., the annual event is incorporating a new twist this year, thanks to chairperson Kathy Crouse, long-time parish member and active supporter of its outreach efforts.

Rebranded as Holy Trinity Bazaar and Artisan Market, the event now includes the work of local artisans. “We want to take our annual bazaar to the next level where we not only offer the crafts and homemade cooking of our devoted church women, but also the arts and crafts of accomplished artists in the region who are looking for an outlet to share their work,” said Crouse. “We think doing so will be a win-win for everyone involved – our church, local artists, and the community.”

Over the years, the annual bazaar has featured a variety of home-made and hand-crafted goods, including themed gift baskets, baked goods, jewelry, plant cuttings, collectables, and a silent auction. “We’ll continue to offer these annual favorites, which local people have come to love and look forward to each year,” said Crouse. “We hope to attract more people by including the sale of work by local artisans.”

Around twelve local artisans have agreed to participate and plan to offer goods like vegan soaps, quilts, pottery, woodworks, handcrafted gourds, natural cleaning products, handmade goats milk products, jewelry, pet portraits, and more. Back by popular demand is the White Elephant Sale and, for the first time, parishioner and photographer Linda Tindal will take Christmas portraits.

All proceeds raised from the sale of the items made by the church members will be donated to local charities, along with the artisan fees. Lunch will be served for a modest fee.

According to Crouse, helping the less fortunate is a high priority of Holy Trinity. “We take a very hands-on approach to outreach in our community. We don’t just write checks – we give to others through our time and talent, too. The money we raise during this event is just one of the many ways we try help those in need in our area,” said Crouse.
