Jake Foster Signs With Presbyterian College
Football standout one of four EHS athletes who signed with schools on National Signing Day
“I’ve got a real good story to tell about Jake,” EHS Athletic Director Chris Carter said, moments before Jake Foster signed to play football for Presbyterian College. Foster was one of four EHS athletes to sign with schools on National Signing Day Wednesday.
The team was at a passing league tournament at Carolina High School during the summer, he said.
“Jake was in the seven on seven, the ball’s thrown, it was just out of his reach, he dives for it,” Carter said. “When he does, he hits elbow first and I literally see his shoulder rotate to the back.”

At first, Foster tried to be tough, Carter said.
“’He’s like, ‘Oh, I’m fine,’ then he realized, ‘Oh gosh, I’m hurt,” he said.

Carter had driven the athletic bus to Carolina that day, and had no way of getting Foster to a hospital without taking the bus, so he borrowed a truck from Kevin Bryant’s father.
Carter called Foster’s parents and asked where they wanted him to take their son for treatment.
“Well, of course, they picked the furthest hospital possible,” Carter said. “‘We want you to take him to Easley. I drive 35 minutes with Jake. And every time I would hit the brake or even turn the wheel, we would wail as if someone was pulling his ears off his head.”
When Jake called Carter to tell him of Presbyterian College‘s offer, Carter said, “Man, we’ve come a long way from you riding in that car with you screaming like a sissy, you getting a letter of intent to play football at PC.”
Foster definitely gives it his all on the field and on the court. During Signing Day, Foster had stitches in his lip from biting through it during a basketball game the night before.
“There was blood everywhere,” Carter said.
“He’s a great kid,” Carter said. “He’s a great reflection of his parents. PC is very excited. Jake has meant an awful lot to us, both in football and basketball. “
