Jury Selection Begins Monday in Homicide by Child Abuse Case

Jamie Morris, Latasha Honeycutt and Donna Phillips are all charged with homicide by child abuse in the death of 22-month-old Jaidon Morris in Pickens County in March 2008.

Jury selection will begin Monday in Pickens County for a mother, father and grandmother charged with homicide by child abuse in the death of 22-month-old Jaidon Morris.

Jamie Morris, Latasha Honeycutt and Donna Phillips are all charged with homicide by child abuse in the toddler's death, according court dockets.

Jaidon Morris died of a drug overdose just a few days after the S.C. Department of Social Services returned him to his mother in March 2008, according to multiple news reports.

According to information released in court, after a weekend visit beginning March 14 with his father and grandmother, Jaidon Morris was returned to his mother's home on March 16. On March 17, a couple of hours after a 8 a.m. diaper change, the child was found unresponsive and Honeycutt called 911. Jaidon Morris died March 19 at Greenville Memorial Hospital.
