Rep. B.R. Skelton a no-show, but large crowd attends meeting and discusses possible new taxes and dysfunction at the Department of Transportation.

Dear Editor, Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â
I want to thank all the peoples and reporters who came to our candidate meeting for the 3rd District State House on Thursday Oct 18 at Six Mile town hall. Â
The meeting room was full and many topics were discussed including possible new state level property taxes, new school taxes, increased gas tax and sales taxes and the dysfunctional Department of Transportation. Â

The purpose of these forums is to listen to peoples' concerns and get candidates' ideas and visions for solving the problems of our state. Â
Unfortunately one of the candidates stood us up: BR Skelton.  We got a written statement from both candidates and published it in our newsletter, we structured the meeting to be fair and balanced.

Just before 5 PM on Tuesday Oct 16, I got a call from a reporter at the Anderson paper that BR Skelton had send a press release saying he was not coming to our meeting. Â
I had the reporter forward the e mail to me.  The time on the e mail sent by BR Skelton to that reporter was 4:31 PM.  All the mailings and arrangements had already been made.
We called all the papers just before 5 PM an told them that the meeting would go on. Â
The next morning we sent a press release that the meeting would go on.  It was a success!  We thank the City of Six Mile for providing the facilities, a law enforcement officer and the firemen for setting up the room.
