Letter: Our Area Needs Safe Place to Walk and Ride

Letter's author says walkers, bicyclists and joggers make very good neighbors.

Dear Editor,

I'd like to express my support for the proposed Doodle Trail.  I've commented on Facebook, and reiterate some of those comments here.

I understand the concern of people who live along the route, but I've found that walkers, bicyclists and joggers make very good neighbors.  My mother-in-law had property in Washington State that backed right up to a similar trail, and thoroughly enjoyed interaction with the individuals and families who used the trail.

As an elderly woman living by herself, she never had a problem with proximity to the trail, not even littering.  Well into her 80's she would walk short distances on it herself.

Our area has no bike lanes or even sidewalks, our road is parallel to a main highway and is bordered by another busy street.  If the Doodle Trail comes to pass, my husband and I will definitely take advantage of a safe place to walk and ride.
