Letter: Prayer Choice Best of Bad Choices
Concerning school board's adoption of a non-sectarian prayer policy, letter's author says school board members "are all trying to do the right thing in a bad situation"

Dear Editor,                                       Â
The actions of the School Board on prayer at School Board meeting were the best of a series of bad choices. The School Board prayer at meeting will now be just like the prayers at County Council and the South Carolina House and Senate.
The advantage of their choice is that the state of South Carolina will be with Pickens County when a law suit is filled and the choice follows successful court rulings. That means the law suit can be won and the cost can be recovered. In the McDonald versus City of Chicago the city had to pay $1.4 million plus the city's legal cost.

Those who want to defy the federal courts are setting the school district up for a very expensive loss plus destroying any prayer at School Board meeting. The perfect is the enemy of the good. I know most of the board members and they are all trying to do the right thing in a bad situation. In fact the Saitta family sits in the pew in front of me on Sunday.
