Liberty Middle Supports Breast Cancer Awareness

Students and staff raised over $1,500 for breast cancer research and were recently recognized during a Spirit Week Pep Rally

This week has been “Spirit Week” at Liberty Middle School. The highlight so far has been the “Pep Rally” that was held on Wednesday. This was not an ordinary pep rally however. It was also time to recognize the students and staff for exceeding their goal of raising $1000 for Breast Cancer Awareness. Liberty Middle School raised $1534 in four days. Chastain Road Elementary contributed $148 to this cause as well.

At the rally Assistant Principal Wanda Tharpe and Principal Donivan Edwards fulfilled promises to the students they had made if the goal was reached. Mrs. Tharpe kissed a pig and Mr. Edwards sang and danced. Both of these delighted the students at the rally.

After the rally all the students who had worn pink to school had their picture made on the hill behind the school in the shape of a pink ribbon.

“Spirit Week “ continues Thursday and Friday with a football game against Riverside Middle on Thursday and a visit from the District Office staff on Friday. Thursday’s game will include announcement and recognition of the 2012 Liberty Middle School Spirit Queen.
