Lottery Winner Claims $100,000 Prize

An Upstate man remembered he had two lottery tickets, after hearing on a local television station that a lottery ticket worth $100,000 had been sold at Hickory Point on Highway 153.

According to the S.C. Education Lottery, the man said that when he heard the news, he thought, "that could be cool."

He told lottery officials that was when he remembered he had bought two tickets and for a brief second wondered, if he could be the winner.

A clerk at a local gas station let him know his first ticket wasn’t a winner, but the second ticket was, according to a news release.

The man contacted lottery officials, who told him he had just won $100,000.

“I won $100,000?” he kept repeating. “I pinched myself."

For selling the claimed ticket, Hickory Point 153 No. 11 in Greenville received a commission of $1,000.
