CULINARY ADVENTURES: Treasures Of The Indian Subcontinent
Spices and herbs have always been fundamental to Indian cuisine, adding flavor as well as having health-giving properties. Enjoy heady spices as you make and savor a meal showcasing India’s culinary diversity.
Fee: $35 ($30 for members and volunteers)

HUNT CABIN OPEN HOUSE: Cabin Construction
Children and families can take a closer look at the Hunt Cabin and learn about how log homes were constructed in the 1800s in the Upstate. From the roof to the foundation, a story of human interaction with the environment is told through the wood, clay, stone and brick used to create this historic structure. Learn about the essential skills needed to create a warm and cozy home. Finally, cook something tasty over the fire, listen to a story and play traditional games from the period.

EXPLORING GARDENS: Germany and the Netherlands
In recent decades, Dutch and German garden designers have become increasingly well known for their striking naturalistic designs, exemplified by Piet Oudolf’s designs for the Lurie Gardens in Chicago and the High Line in New York City. Education director Lisa Wagner presents a fascinating look at some of these “New Wave” gardens in Germany and the Netherlands that she explored on a recent visit.

Friday, March 15
ST. PATRICK’S TREASURE HUNT
For children and families, there is only one way to find the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow: with your trusty map and compass. Learn the basics of orienteering and test your new skills by going on a treasure hunt in the Garden. Look for spring wildflowers and wildlife along the way, and when you’ve collected the prizes, create a “good luck” craft. Participants must register at least three days in advance.
Fee: $4 per person ($3 for members and volunteers)

GARDENING AND CREATIVITY WORKSHOP
Explore the creative side of gardening of gardening in this all-day workshop with Garden educators Lisa Wagner and Sue Watts based on Fran Sorin’s book "Digging Deep: Unearthing Your Creative Roots Through Gardening." Use some of the observing, remembering, imagining and envisioning exercises in her book as you experience the process of enhancing your garden-making and gardening experiences. Lunch is included.
Fee: $65 ($55 for Garden members and volunteers)

ART GALLERY
Visit the Fuller Galleries to see a rotating collection of artwork by artisans inspired by the materials, nature and beauty of the Upstate. A portion of sales benefits the S.C. Botanical Garden. There is a permanent display of Elizabeth Belser Fuller’s extensive collection of wildflower and nature paintings.

GEOLOGY MUSEUM
The Bob Campbell Geology Museum houses an impressive collection of more than 10,000 rocks, minerals, fossils, lapidary objects (carvings, gemstones) and artifacts (mining equipment, Native American tools). Educational tours are available Tuesday-Friday. Hours: 10 a.m.–5 p.m. Wednesday-Saturday and 1–5 p.m. Sunday. Museum admission: $3 for adults and $2 for children 12 and under. GENERAL INFORMATION
The South Carolina Botanical Garden is located on the Clemson University campus at the intersection of Highway 76 and Perimeter Road. The Garden encompasses 295 acres of display gardens, nature trails, woodlands and streams, and is open year-round from dawn to dusk, free of charge. Discovery Center and Garden Gift Shop hours: 10 a.m.–5 p.m. Monday-Saturday and 1–5 p.m. Sunday.

The Garden is partially supported by the state of South Carolina via Clemson University, but relies on private funding, memberships and proceeds from educational events to support operations.
