Mega Millionaire? It Could Be You

Tickets for Friday's drawing may be purchased until 10 p.m.

Growing since January 24, the Mega Millions jackpot has rolled over 18 times without a winner, according to the S.C. Education Lottery.

On Friday, the jackpot is worth $640 million, making it the largest in world history, the lottery commission said. The previous record stood at $390 million.

The winner can elect to take a one-time cash payment of $389 million.

Tickets cost $1, and in South Carolina must be purchased by 10 p.m. for Friday’s 11 p.m. drawing.

The lottery said that more than 4.7 million tickets won prizes in Tuesday’s drawing, including a ticket sold by a York retailer worth $250,000.

The odds of winning the jackpot are about 1 in 175.7 million.
