No Indication EHS Student Took Weapons Out of His Car
Hunter Green, 17, arrested yesterday after weapons were found in his car on campus. District spokesman gives update on incident.

A school district spokesman said there is no indication that the Easley High School student arrested yesterday after weapons were found in his vehicle had ever taken the weapons out of his car.
after numerous weapons, including a revolver and knives, were found in his car.

“The school’s response to the incident was not impacted by whether or not there was deemed to be a planned attack on the school,” Eby said in a statement. “The police were contacted and the student was taken into custody before any determination was made on the student’s intentions.”
He said while police told district officials that there's no indication Green intended to threaten the school, “that is something only the student can ever know for certain.”

“The fact that the large majority of the ammunition could not be used with the gun in the car leads us to believe that it was not intended for use at the school or as part of a planned attack,” Eby said. “There is no indication that the student ever removed the weapons from his car at the school.”
In the district's initial about the discovery of the weapons and Green's arrest, Eby stated the weapons were probably used for “hunting and recreation.”
“At the time of that release I had not been informed of the handcuffs or stun gun in the car,” Eby said. “It was relayed to me that the student was known to be a frequent hunter, and much of the ammunition as well as the knives found in the car are common hunting equipment.”
Green also faces expulsion. Initial reports stated that he had been expelled from Easley High School following his arrest, but a corrected release stated that while district policy will recommend that Green be expelled for at least one year, no such action has been taken.
Eby said appropriate steps were taken to ensure that the weapons could not be used to harm students.
Safety of our students is our top priority, and their safety was maintained yesterday,” he said.
