Palmetto Elementary Students Visit Vulcan Materials

Palmetto Elementary School third graders recently traveled to Vulcan Materials Rock Quarry for a firsthand lesson on geology.

As third graders, students learn about Earth’s natural resources and how we use them. 

Students also learn the three different classifications of rocks.  This trip allowed students to hold and feel some of the rocks discussed in science class. 

It also allowed them to see the mining process and how humans extract natural resources from Earth. 

Students enjoyed a wonderful time and a great snack from the people at Vulcan!
