UPDATED: Pankake Named SEC, National Player of the Week
The former Easley High standout on a hot streak at the plate for the Gamecocks.

USC Gamecock shortstop Joey Pankake's hot week at the plate has earned the former Easley High star recognition.
Pankake was named the SEC Player of the Week.
In addition to the SEC honor, Pankake also has been named “Louisville Slugger’s” National Player of the Week by Collegiate Baseball and is among three other players to earn the honor.

The sophomore hit .438 (7-for-16) in the five games with four homers, seven runs scored and nine RBI. Pankake hit a pair of three-run homers in each of the wins over Ball State. He then homered in both Saturday and Sunday's victories over Rider.
For the season, Pankake is hitting .326 (15-for-46) with four homers, 14 RBI and 11 runs scored. He is currently on a seven-game hitting streak.
Pankake is the second Gamecock player this year to earn the honors. LB Dantzler was an honoree by the conference on Feb. 25.
