Pedal Pickens County Charity Ride to Benefit Meals on Wheels

Ride slated for Saturday, October 13

Pickens County Meals on Wheels invites you and your family to participate the 2nd Annual Pedal Pickens County- Meals on Wheels Charity Ride on Saturday, October 13th.

Helping Meals on Wheels gear up for the event are Silver Sponsor- Foothills Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine and Bronze Sponsors- Providence Care and Durham-Green Construction. Pre-Ride mechanics and SAG support will be provided by Ride On Bicycles of Clemson.

Pedal Pickens County is signature event designed for cyclists who enjoy the rolling hills, challenging climbs, exhilarating descents and beautiful scenery that Northern Pickens County provides.

All rides begin and end at Pickens Middle School (467 Sparks Lane Pickens, SC). Riders can choose from distances of 25, 40, 50 miles (metric course without Caesars Head), and a Metric Century tour. Riders who choose the challenging 66-mile metric century, will tour portions of beautiful Eastatoee Valley and Caesars Head. Routes can be previewed by visiting www.pcmow.org.

Schedule of Events

6:30-7:45AM Packet pickup and late registration: Pickens Middle School, 467 Sparks Lane, Pickens, SC.

 

8:00AM Ride Begins- Metric Century Ride, 50 Mile Ride (metric route without Caesars Head), 40 Mile Ride, and 25 Mile Ride. Each course will include 1-4 fully stocked rest areas.

10:00AM Pedal, Push, Walk-a-thon- While the ride is underway, Pickens Middle School stu­dents will lead a Pedal, Push, Walk-a-thon at the Middle School track. This is a fun and fit activity for kids of all ages, with all children reaching for their personal best distance. Students set realistic lap goals based on age and development. Drinks will be provided, and each student will receive a token of participation.

Pedal Pickens County is a fundraising event for Meals on Wheels, but riders are not required to fundraise in order to participate. Riders can create a fundraising page and invite others to contribute at http://www.active.com/donate/PedalPickensCounty. Exciting prizes will be given to those that do participate:

 

Raise $30: Receive a Pedal Pickens County water bottle

Raise $60: Receive a Pedal Pickens County athletic shirt

Raise $180: Receive a Hincapie Pedal Pickens County custom jersey

Plus, the top fundraiser, in excess of $500, will receive a 1 night stay in a log cabin located in the Big Eastatoee Valley and dinner to two at Chef Giovanni in downtown Travelers Rest.

Pickens County Meals on Wheels is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit, charitable organization funded completely through grants and donations from individuals, churches, church organizations, businesses, civic groups, and the United Way. They do not seek or receive any state or federal funding and rely entirely on the generosity of the community they serve.
