Pickens Fire Receives Donated Equipment from Firehouse Subs

The department received four carbon monoxide detectors worth more than $2,000 from the Easley sub shop.

Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation awarded more than $2,000 of equipment to Pickens Fire Department Wednesday during a ceremony at the in Easley.

The department benefits two 4-gas handheld monitors worth more than $2,000. The donated devices will allow the department to check for carbon monoxide in residences and monitor the air quality prior to sending firefighters into emergency situations.

Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation has donated more than $525,000 to public safety entities in South Carolina.

Each restaurant recycles leftover, five-gallon pickle buckets and sells them to guests for $2. Donation canisters on register counters explain the non-profit's mission and collect spare change, while the round up program allows guests to literally "round up" their bill to the nearest dollar.
