Powdersville Councilman Ken Waters to Hold Town Hall Oct. 25

Waters wants to hear residents' questions and concerns.

Anderson County Councilman Ken Waters wants to hear from constituents later this month.

Waters will hold a town hall meeting 6:30pm Thursday, October 25 at the Powdersville Library.

While Waters' previous town halls meetings have often following an agenda, with speakers giving updates on recycling programs, crime prevention efforts, county parks and more, he says his October meeting will be more of a listening session.

“I just want to hear from people,” Waters said. “We've got several things going on right now. I just want to see what kind of questions people have and see what we need to do up there.”

He said he hopes work will begin on bathrooms at Hurricanes Springs Park soon.

Waters says a project involving Dolly Cooper Park is in the bidding stages.

Residents and county officials alike have wanted to improve the park, but funding has been an issue.

“Hopefully we'll get started on that soon,” he said.

More people are discovering Dolly Cooper Park, thanks to the Saluda River Rally, an annual event that features kayak and canoe trips down the Saluda that set off from the park.

Waters said he didn't get the word out on last month's town hall and not many people attended.

“I want to try to have one at least every two months from now, depending on what kind of information is out there,” he said.
