Powdersville Elementary Students Collect Canned Food for PERC
School canned food drive brings in over 1,100 food items for Piedmont Emergency Relief Center.

Powdersville Elementary School held its annual Clemson vs. Carolina canned food drive this past week to support the Piedmont Emergency Relief Center (PERC).
Students at Powdersville Elementary School brought in over 1,100 canned and dry food items this year. Clemson won the competition, but according to Principal Mrs. Gill, everyone wins in a competition like this. “I am proud of our students for putting the needs of others first and bringing in so many items,” Mrs. Gill stated.
Lisa Patton, guidance counselor at Powdersville Elementary School, is aware that many families are facing difficult financial situations and need assistance this time of year.

“This area is supportive of those in their own community who are struggling,” Patton remarked, “and our students do a great job leading the way.” Powdersville Elementary School students will continue to bring in items and participate in a grade level competition.
