Powdersville High Student Headed to Governor's School

A local student is getting recognition for his hard work and dedication to school.

Louie Alexander, who is a student at Powdersville High School, has been accepted into the S.C. Governor's School for Science and Mathematics in Hartsville.

Alexander is the subject of a feature in Sunday's The New York Times.

Alexander who sells eggs and chickens from pens in the family's backyard, doesn't ask for much in life, according to the article.

His parents, Charlton and Teresa Alexander, were a bit apprehensive about sending him away to school, but said they will manage to come up with the money required to pay for his food next year.
