Powderville Elementary's Boosterthon Fun Run Huge Success

Pledges amount to over $20,000, which will be used for classroom technology at the school.

On Wednesday, March 13th, students at Powdersville Elementary School in Anderson School District One participated in the Boosterthon Fun Run event on the school’s playground.

This event is the school’s major fundraiser for the year and focuses on promoting positive characters traits and fitness.

The theme for this year’s Fun Run was “Highway U.S.A.”

Students ran 35 laps, the equivalent of more than 2 miles, and were cheered on by faculty, staff, and parents.

If all pledge monies are collected, the school will raise over $20,000 for the school to be used on adding additional technologies for students to use in the classroom.

Brad Moore, assistant principal at Powdersville Elementary School, thinks this event means a great deal to the students at the school. “Our students are challenged and encouraged by participating in this event,” Moore stated.

This is the third year the school has participated in the Boosterthon program. Principal Debra Gill is excited about the way the community rallies around the program in support of students at Powdersville Elementary School.

“Our students are our most important resource,” Mrs. Gill remarked. “The Fun Run provides an opportunity for our community to celebrate and support the wonderful students at our school.”
