Ribbon Cut for Completed Addition to Robinson Funeral Home
A business after hours and ribbon-cutting for Coffee Corner, which is located inside the funeral home, will be held Tuesday.
After months of work, Robinson Funeral Home cut the ribbon on the new addition to their building on Sunday.
The funeral home, which for years has faced South 1st Street, will now open its doors to 305 W. Main St.
"When one door shuts, another opens," Robinson told the crowd. "We will no longer use the side door on South 1st."

Sidney Whitlock, who has been employed by the funeral home since the '50s, snipped the ribbon on the new entrance. Robinson said that for years Whitlock has told the Robinson family that he would love to see the building face Main Street.
Robinson joked they had installed an automatic door to the new entrance, but that he wasn't sure his grandfather would have approved.

Built in 1950, the funeral home has undergone three renovations. The building, Robinson said, now features a two-story lobby with a fireplace, new offices and family space as well as a covered portico at the entrance. Robinson said they also replaced every window in the building to make it more energy efficient, added a flower delivery area and gutted all of the bathrooms to increase the space and to make them more state-of-the-art.
The coffee shop is located at the opposite end of the building from the visitation rooms and the chapel.
In addition to Starbucks coffee and treats, the shop will have wi-fi, a TV and a fireplace.
Patrons will be able to enter the shop from the patio outside or through the lobby of the funeral home.
A ribbon cutting and business after hours will be hosted at Coffee Corner at 5:15 p.m. Tuesday.
