Sam Houston Signs With North Greenville University

Houston one of four EHS football standouts who signed with schools on National Signing Day

 

In the office of Easley High School Athletic Director Chris Carter is a picture from Principal Bill Houston retired from Easley High School.

“Before a baseball game, we presented him with an award telling him how much we appreciated his time and service at Easley High,” Carter recalled.

“In that picture, his grandchildren are with him and in that picture, Sam is about this big,“ Carter said, holding his hand about knee-high. 

Sam has grown, and his signing with  represents the next chapter in his life.

“When you talk with people about Sam, the first thing they say is ‘Man, what a great kid,” Carter said.  “If my son grows up to be as good as that boy right there, I will have won as a parent, without question.” 

Sam Houston signed to play football for North Greenville University on Wednesday. Carter said that Houston and the three other players who signed with schools that day earned more than half a million dollars in scholarships. 

Scout.com called Houston one of the Upstate’s top linebacker prospects and “a force” for the Green Wave.
