There will be tables filled with hard and paperback books, children's books, cookbooks, self-help books, coffee table books and more.  Audio books, CDs, DVDs, cassettes and tapes will also be on sale.

First United Methodist Church will hold their Holiday Bazaar from 8am – 2pm today  in Wesley Hall, the church’s gymnasium, located at 112 West 2nd Avenue in Easley.

This year’s bazaar will have even more to offer with the “Second-Time-Around Jewelry” booth and a huge white elephant sale.

“Attic Treasures” and the “Book Nook” booths will also be featured. Gently used, recent bestsellers along with children’s books, cookbooks and classics will be available at great prices. Attic treasures will include fine dishes, pictures, vases, linens and tables.

As always, food will be a highlight at the bazaar. FUMC’s famous frozen foods will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. Bazaar goers will also find jams, preserves, pickles, cakes, cookies, breads, dry mixes – soup, tea, hot chocolate, cookies-in-a-jar – and other fresh baked items in the “Homemade Food” booth.

Lunch is also available in the tea room.

Selugadu VI, a festival celebrating Native American culture, arts and history, will take place at the Hagood Mill in Pickens from 10am – 4pm today.

Hosted by “Reedy River Intertribal,” this sixth annual event will begin with a “Presentation of the Colors,” honoring America’s veterans, and will continue throughout the day with a great program of drumming, dancing, singing, storytelling, demonstrations and games. Reedy River’s “Sachem” (head-man), Pat Langley, will be present to interpret Native American culture, along with Dr. Will Goins, Chief Executive Officer of the Eastern Cherokee, Southern Iroquois and United Tribes of South Carolina.

Native American dancing will be a big part of the celebration. Reedy River Intertribal has invited several other Native groups across the State to participate. By special invitation, from the Carolina Lowcountry, the “Keepers of the Word” Drum Circle will return again this year. Champion pow-wow dancer, Austin Sweat (Eastern Shawnee) will perform. For those who get caught up in the spirit of the day, the dancing will include audience participation dances and a “candy dance” for the youngsters. Native American flute music (of different styles and tribes) will be presented by Roger Whitmire along with songs in Cherokee performed by the Reedy River Intertribal Singers.

Native jewelry and crafts will be demonstrated and available for sale,

An Upstate tradition, Hollywild Animal Park will launch its Holiday Lights Safari Benefit  tonight. The Safari Benefit will run nightly, including holidays, until January 5.  Admission is $6, and proceeds help care for the park’s animals.
