Today is a day set aside to recognize a hard-working lady who doesn’t get enough credit: The Tooth Fairy.

February 28 is National Tooth Fairy Day.

Punchbowl.com has some background on the Tooth Fairy. Apparently, the original legend told of a Tooth Mouse who would gather children’s baby teeth. The story developed into the Tooth Fairy we know today, possibly because the idea of a Tooth Mouse stealing your teeth in the night is pretty creepy.

I remember one year I was determined to see just how fast the Tooth Fairy worked. So when my loose tooth fell out, I didn’t tell anyone, just went ahead and put it under my pillow.
