Sprint for Success 5K To Benefit Scholarship Fund

Clemson University Staff Senate's 1st annual race will be held Saturday.

The Clemson University Staff Senate will hold its first ever Sprint for Success 5K to raise money for the Staff Senate Annual Scholarship Fund Saturday, Nov. 3. The 5K run will begin at 8:30 a.m. and will start on Highway 93 at Sikes Hall and end in front of Tillman Hall.

The 5K course is U.S. Track and Field-certified and rounds the Clemson campus. Timing will be done through Precision Timing Systems. Age groups range from 12 and under to over 70.

A $50 prize will be given to the top male and female runners. Additional prizes will be given to the top male and female runners in each age category.

A Kid’s Fun Run for children 12 and under begins at 8:15 a.m. The course will be a half-mile lap around Bowman Field. Early registration is $10 and includes a free T-shirt. Registration on the day of the fun run is free, but without a T-shirt. A medal will be award for the top male and female runners. Day-of-race registration begins at 7 a.m. for both events.

The cost to enter the Sprint For Success is $20 before Nov. 1 and $25 on race day. A free T-shirt will be given with early registration and also on race day while supplies last. To register online, visit http://precisiontimingsystems.com/ or download the registration form via the link on the page.

The Staff Senate Scholarship Fund started in 1989 with one scholarship awarded to a child of a staff member yearly. Now 10 scholarships of $1,150 are given each year. These scholarships are made possible by donations from Clemson University staff members and fundraising events such as the Sprint for Success 5K.
