The play is an adaptation of the 1915 spy novel by John Buchan, which was made into a classic film by Alfred Hitchcock.
“The 39 Steps” is the story of everyman Richard Hannay, who must run for his life after he becomes involved with a woman who is trying to stop a plot against the British government.
Soon, there's been a murder – and it seems everyone Hannay meets wants him dead, too. Who can he trust? And just what are the 39 Steps? The answer to that question make keep him alive – or it may get him killed.
The play promises action and intrigue – and comedy too. Being handcuffed to someone who has every reason to hate and mistrust you is a situation ripe for laughs. Who's cuffed to who? You'll have to see the play to find out.
The cast of four will play over 150 characters in the fast-paced production.
But they'll be up to the challenge. Director Anna DeVault calls her cast - Owen Robertson, Erin Schultz, Steve Schultz and Maurice Reed - “ridiculously talented.”
Director and cast alike all have years of experience onstage and behind the scenes at the Foothills Playhouse and other venues in the area.
“The 39 Steps” was Broadway's longest running comedy and played its 500th performance on May 19, 2009.
With that kind of talent among the cast and crew, this production is sure to be a great one. Don't miss it!
