Three Social Studies Teachers Recognized for Top Honors
Iris Ashenbrand, Shannon Goodacre and Joey Tollison were recently recognized at the state sponsored Social Studies Conference as Social Studies Distinguished Teachers of the Year.

Anderson District 1 teachers Iris Ashenbrand, Shannon Goodacre and Joey Tollison were recently recognized as Social Studies Distinguished Teachers of the Year at the state sponsored Social Studies Conference in Greenville.
The three teachers were nominated by administrators at their individual schools and competed with other outstanding social studies teachers in the district. The judging panel read the applications and the recipients were selected based on their exemplary social studies instruction in the classroom.
Ashchenbrand is a fourth-grade teacher at Hunt Meadows Elementary School.
Goodacre teaches seventh-grade at Wren Middle School.

Tollison is a World History teacher at Powdersville High.
“They are outstanding examples of what good social studies teachers do," Dr. Wayne Fowler, superintendent of Anderson District 1 said. "They make history come alive for the students and present information in such a way that students come to love the content.”
