Tim Morgan Retires From Pickens County Sheriff's Office

Assistant Sheriff retires after 37 years in law enforcement.

Assistant Sheriff Tim Morgan has retired after 37 years in law enforcement.

Morgan was one of several retiring Pickens County Sheriff's Office employees honored at a luncheon last month.

“Tim came to us when he was about 22, 23 years old, I can't remember,” Sheriff C. David Stone said during the luncheon.

“No, I was the youngest deputy ever hired,” Morgan said. “I was twelve.”

“It's been a pleasure working with Tim, as he came up the ranks,” Stone said. “Everybody knows, I called on him quite frequently. He's been a blessing to the Sheriff's Office and dedicated to the Sheriff's Office.”

Stone said no one in the office calls Morgan by his title of “Assistant Sheriff.”

“It's just Tim, Tim, Tim,” Stone said.

“Too many people abbreviated that (title),” Morgan said with a grin.

Stone said that Morgan, just as much as Stone did himself, wanted the Sheriff's Office to run smoothly and employ officers “who would go out, do the work and get the work done.”

“And that's what we've had throughout our careers,” Stone said. “That's the reason we've been successful. He gives good advice and he makes it so much easier for me.”

Stone presented Morgan with a plaque commemorating his career with the Pickens County Sheriff's Office.

The plaque reads “In sincere appreciation for your dedicated and loyal service to the Pickens County Sheriff's Office and the citizens of Pickens County, Sept. 15, 1975 – December 31, 2012.”

“It's been a good career,” Morgan told his coworkers. “Everything I've ever accomplished, the awards I've gotten, the recognitions of whatever, pales in comparison to the friendships and relationships with all of you. I sincerely mean that. It's enough to last a lifetime. Relationships in life are what mean so much.”
