Trick Or Treat On Main A Success

2,800 children walk through trail in Pickens Saturday.

Dear Editor,

We had a very successful Trick or Treat on Main this past weekend.   There were 2800 children who came through the trail. We did not count parents, but each child had at least one if not two parents with them at the event.

24 businesses, churches and organizations participated in the trail and decorated a booth to hand out candy.

It was truly a community event for the kids.

Cannon Hospital started this tradition over 15 years ago here at the hospital’s fitness trail to provide a safe, family friendly trick or treating event.

We moved it to Main Street 3 years ago to make it handicap accessible.  It was really heartwarming to see several children and even family members in wheelchairs participating in the event,  who in years past would not have been able to.

I can’t thank everyone enough who participated.  Those included:  The auxiliary and employees of Cannon Hospital, the City of Pickens, LaDance Studio, The Azalea Festival Committee, Wal Greens, Shearz Salon, Bojangles, Porter’s Chapel, The Upstate Legends Jeep Club, Café Connections, Great Clips, The Pickens Senior Citizens, JD Sports/Heidi’s, Pickens Police and Fire, Carousel of Learning, New Beginnings Church,  YH America, Freedom Biker Church, Marathon Church, Bi-Lo, Pickens County Sheriff’s Department, Main Street Pizzarea,  Advance America, and Pickens Post office.
