USC Blanks Manhattan, 7-0, Pankake Breaks Up No-Hitter

Gamecocks will face the Tigers at 4 p.m. Saturday

Junior Colby Holmes pitched eight scoreless innings for the Gamecocks on Friday shutting out Manhattan, 7-0, in the second game of the 2012 NCAA Columbia Regional at Carolina Stadium.

USC will face Clemson at 4 p.m. Saturday.

Easley's Joey Pankake hit a leadoff double at the bottom of the sixth to break up a no-hitter and sparking a four-run outburst by the Gamecocks.

Evan Marzilli singled, followed by a walk for Walker loading the bases with no outs. Adam Matthews smacked a single to left bringing in Pankake and Marzilli to give the Gamecocks a two-run lead. Tanner English crushed a triple, bringing USC's lead to 4-0.

The Gamecocks would add three more in the eighth inning to win the game.
