Old Pendleton District Genealogical Society to discuss locating records associated with mental illness.

Those interested in researching their family tree and background should plan to attend the next meeting of the Old Pendleton District Genealogical Society.
The Old Pendleton District Genealogical Society will meet Tuesday, September 18 at the Central-Clemson Library.
The meeting begins at 7pm.

Mike Becknell will lead a discussion entitled "“Was Granny Crazy? Locating Records Associated with Mental Illness and Insanity.”
Becknell has been involved in genealogy for nearly 30 years. His family lines are mainly from the Union and Spartanburg areas.

He is currently the First Vice President of the South Carolina Genealogical Society, President of the Laurens Chapter, and Vice President of the Pinckney District Chapter.
He will talk about the availability of mental health records on the county, state and federal levels.
