Water Main Break Impacts Clemson, Tri-County Technical College

Clemson cancels some classes; Tri-County Tech's Pendleton campus operating under normal schedule.

A water main break in Anderson is impacting area college students.

Due to little or no water pressure in many on-campus buildings, Clemson University officials announced this morning that offices would be closed and all classes or labs that do not have pre-scheduled assessments would be canceled.

However, any classes or labs that had final presentations, tests, lab practicals, etc., scheduled for today will go on as scheduled.

Residence halls and dining halls remain open for residential students. However, water conservation is ordered, with limited use of toilet facilities and no showering or other nonessential water usage by anyone who remains on campus.

A "boil water" advisory is in effect. Water should be boiled for at least five minutes during the next 48 hours.

Information regarding Friday operations will be communicated through internal communication and on the campus CU Safety web site http://www.clemson.edu/cusafety/.

The Clemson Athletic Department was not affected by the water main break and is remaining open. This includes the ticket office. Tickets are still being sold for the Chick-fil-A Bowl and this Saturday's basketball game against Arizona. Students can purchase their tickets for the Chick-fil-A Bowl at Gate 11 today until 4:30 PM.

Tri-County Technical College officials announced that the Pendleton campus is also experiencing water pressure problems and encouraged students and staff to conserve water whenever possible.

However, no classes at Tri-County Tech have been canceled. Exams will go on as scheduled. The college is operating under a normal schedule. The college's cafe is closed.

The school is also under a boil water advisory. Due to the water line issues, restrooms are only available for use in Fulp Hall (Health/Science building) and the Industrial Business and Development Center.
