Watsons Should Make Painful, Right Decision

Letter Author urges Watsons to give dog back to former owners.

Dear Mr & Mrs Watson:

This last week I am sure has been one of the craziest of your lives.  I am sure when Lucy came into your lives you never imagined it would end up this way.  We thank you from the bottom of our hearts for the excellent care you have provided for her during your time with her.

However, now is the time to say your goodbyes to her and let her go.  You stated in your interview on WSPA Channel 7 that you knew she belonged to the Blantons, and now you believe that she is yours.  Maybe she will always be yours in your heart, and that is fine.

But, the fact remains that she was the Blanton’s, they did abundantly more than you could imagine to try to locate their missing puppy, and now they deserve her back.

You do not know the nights they had to rock their children to sleep as they cried themselves out.  You do not know how everytime they ventured out they always kept a watchful eye out praying for a glimpse of Lucy.  You do not know all the time they spent scouring the internet making sure their missing posts were kept updated and available for all to see.

You do not know the hundreds of calls that were made to see if they could find her.

All you know is that this dog came into your lives, and for a period she has enriched your lives.  Please look at that as a blessing from God.  I have always heard it is better to have loved and lost than to never have loved at all.  I agree with that.

I have fell in love with many people and animals ito have them tore out of my life, and yes, it is painful, but each and every one of them brought something into my life that can never be taken away.  Sometimes it was precious memories, sometimes it was a life lesson, and sometimes it was the ability to know I did the right thing even if it did hurt me.

That is what we are begging from you.  We know that if we go to court we can get Lucy back, but we don’t want it to go that far.  We have the community as a vast majority backing us up, and many are wanting to boycott your business and make sure you never get voted into office again. That is not our wish or our intent.  We have a Facebook group for our wish to “Bring Home Lucy!” that has around 900 members in the short few days it has been up and running.

We would like nothing more than to get rid of all of these things, and let everyone know that you had a hard decision to make, but that in the end you did make the right decision and returned Lucy to the family that has not stopped being heartbroken about her loss for one moment in the time she has been gone.

I would like to tell you a bit about the Blanton family.  Earlier this year, my mom went into cardiac arrest and died for 25 minutes.  She spent 9 days in a coma and 42 days in the hospital.  I was by her side the entire time along with my family.  We didn’t stop to eat or anything, and without the least bit of hesitation Kerri came to our house and cooked many meals and put them up for us to eat as we needed them.

This is not an ordinary act of kindness, this is the kind of person that makes you want to be a better person.  Her husband Keith is an HVAC pro and has helped so many people in our community out who were down on their luck and didn’t have the money to pay the high fees associated with heating and air conditioning problems. You can call him anytime of the day or night, and he without a bit of complaining comes out and helps you.  As far as their children…they are hilarious.  Zach is such a great kid.  I hope my boys grow up to be as responsible as he is.  Their oldest daughter Madilyn is the champion of everything.  She takes up for all things that need help, and she has a passion for life that is contagious! Little Will…he’s just the best.  He never stops talking and he’s all boy for sure!  He loves soccer and anything that requires him to get dirty.  He never stops making me laugh.  Last but not least is Meri.  Meri is the cutest little girl, big blue eyes and curly blond hair.  She is such a true sweetheart, she wants to take care of everything.  She loves on anyone that is having a bad day or upset and does everything she can to make them feel better.

THIS is the family that you can give Lucy back to. The kind of family that sticks together through everything.  The kind of family that when their dog goes missing can get, without even asking for any kind of help, the whole upstate behind them.  There is not much that the Blanton Family’s friends would not do for them, that is how much we love them.

So, please, give the dog back.  This family was destroyed watching the news reports yesterday.  Seeing the dog they love so close but still not able to be with.  We don’t want to think of you as a bad person or people.  We want to think of you as people that got caught up in an extraordinary event, but then provided a magical, fairytale happy ending for a wonderful family.

Thank you ,

Alison Underwood on behalf of all the people that love the Blantons.
