baseball and softball teams had their opening games in the 4A district playoffs Thursday night interrupted by weather.
The baseball game at Byrnes was halted by lightning and then a downpour that included hail with the Rebels leading, 2-1, with two outs in the bottom of the first inning.
Action will pick up there at 6 p.m. Friday.

Easley’s softball team will resume its game at Boiling Springs at 5:30 p.m. Friday, trailing 8-0 after four innings.
Back-to-back doubles by Wil Hartsell and Jordan Pankake gave Easley an early lead against No. 1 seed Byrnes.

In the bottom of the first, the Rebels went on top against Green Wave starting pitcher Stephen McKnight on a two-out, two-run double by Zach Bridgeman.
The winner of the Byrnes-Easley game will play the winner of Lancaster vs. Spring Valley, with the losers facing elimination.
Both of those games will be played at 3 p.m. Saturday.
In softball, Easley would face elimination Saturday against either Dutch Fork or Rock Hill, unless the Green Wave can rally to beat Boiling Springs.
