Willis L. Ledford

Easley

Willis "Whitey" Lester Ledford, 86, of 304 South Severn Circle, passed away Saturday April 21, 2012 at his home.

Mr. Ledford was born in Moline, Illinois, a son of the late Leslie Willis and Ruby Johnson Ledford. He retired as Captain of the LaMesa, California Fire Department and was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He was a member of the American Legion and was a Lutheran.

Surviving is his wife, Mary Ann Norcross Ledford of the home; a daughter, Patricia Ann Laptuz and her husband, John, of Nipomo, Calif.; a step-daughter, Etta Jean "Jeanne" Thompson and her husband, Chuck, of Powdersville; a sister, Betty Palmgren, of Tamarac, Fla.; a grandson, Steven Laptuz and his wife, Sonya, of Nipomo, Calif., and two great-grandchildren, Cyana Laptuz and Luke Laptuz.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Ferne Ledford and a sister, Nancy DeSmet.

A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday in the .
