Wren High Band Wins Grand Championship

Wren High School Marching Band also wins first in its class and several other awards at Loy E. Wagner Invitational Competition.

The Wren High School Marching Band came in first in its class and then won the Grand Championship trophy Saturday, October 13, 2012, at the Loy E. Wagner Invitational Competition at Palmetto High School. 

Additionally, the band placed first in percussion, horn line and solist for their 2012 show entitled, “Superstitions.”  The band also had the high score for the night in marching, music, visual execution and general effect. 

The overall score was a 92.35.  The soloist award was actually won by a trio of trumpets, including Robert McNair, Will Lennon, and Joshua Koury.

“The students and parents have done an outstanding job thus far this season.  Their work ethic and commitment to excellence are a credit to our community and school,” said band director Bruce Caldwell.

The band travels to the Upperstate competition at James F. Byrnes High School in Duncan, S. C., this coming weekend.
