Young Appalachian Musicians' Winter Jubilee Approaching
2-day event features Battle of the Bands and all-day concert.

The Young Appalachian Musicians and the Pickens Bluegrass Band are planning an event that you’ll want to attend.
The two day event will be held at the Pickens High School Auditorium January 11-12.
On Friday, January 11 from 6-10pm, the PHS Bluegrass Band will hold a band contest.

The grand prize is $1,000 and a spot in the Winter Jubilee lineup.
Second prize is $300 and third place prize is $200.

The next day, the Winter Jubilee concert will be held at the auditorium. The concert kicks off at 11am and concludes at 8pm.
The lineup for Saturday includes New 5 Cents, Steve McGaha & Buffalo Barfield, West End String Band, the 1st place winning band from Friday night’s bluegrass competition, the Pickens High School Bluegrass Band, Sweet Potato Pie Kids, YAM students and headliners The Little Roy and Lizzie Show.Â
The Little Roy and Lizzy Show will also lead one of the workshops held during the Jubilee. A traditional instruments workshop is also planned, and other workshops will be announced as the event draws closer. Open jams will also be held throughout the day.
Concessions from Gatehouse Restaurant of Pickens will be available Saturday from 11am – 7pm. Â
Tickets are $6 in advance for Friday only ($7 at the door,) $12 for Saturday only in advance ($15 at the door).
Combo tickets for Friday and Saturday are available for $16 in advance or $20 at the door.
Youth 16 and under accompanied will be admitted free when accompanied by an adult.
To order tickets by mail send name, phone number, ticket choice and payment to: YAM, PO Box 613, Pickens, SC 29671. Make checks payable to POSAM, Inc. Mail orders must be post marked by December 28. You will receive confirmation of your order. Tickets will not be mailed.
Tickets are also available from any YAM student.
Online ticket sales and band contest rules can be found at yamupstate.org, as well as sponsorship information. Sponsorships begin at $250.
Proceeds will go to support the Young Appalachian Musicians program and the PHS Bluegrass Band. Â Â
