Economic Development Spotlighted in City Workshop Thursday
Goose Creek City Council and Economic Development Advisory Committee meet Thursday to discuss future of economic development in city.

City Council will meet with the Economic Development Advisory Committee to address economic development. The meeting isΒ 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the city's police departmentΒ at the municipal center on N. Goose Creek Boulevard.Β

Heitzler said Thursday's meeting will help the city develop a strategic, step-by-step plan.
The committee was first formed in 1994 to deal with the turmoil following the Navy Base closure. The committee is seeking "guidance and direction" from city council, according to Heitzler.Β

Update 2:30 p.m. May 2: Thursday's meeting is one component of many in a new direction for the city. While the "post-TIF era" is part of the city's new direction, the meeting will largely focus on economic development and whether or not the city will need to create a new committee on that effort.
