Goose Creek City Council Mulls Hospitality Tax

A 2 percent hospitality fee could be imposed on all prepared food and beverages.

An additional source of revenue is being discussed for Goose Creek.

Goose Creek City Council has proposed a 2 percent hospitality fee on prepared foods and beverages, Count on 2 News reported.

The proposed ordinance is expected o nthe council agenda May 14.

Currently in Goose Creek, the sales tax rate on prepared foods and beverages is currently 8%. It breaks down to 6% for state sales tax, 1% for Berkeley County Local Option sales tax and 1% Berkeley County Capital Project sales tax.
