Goose Creek City Council Mulls Hospitality Tax

Goose Creek City Council has proposed a 2 percent hospitality fee on prepared foods and beverages, Count on 2 News reported.
The proposed ordinance is expected o nthe council agenda May 14.

Currently in Goose Creek, the sales tax rate on prepared foods and beverages is currently 8%. It breaks down to 6% for state sales tax, 1% for Berkeley County Local Option sales tax and 1% Berkeley County Capital Project sales tax.
The revenue generated from the tax would go toward a separate fund, designated for tourism-related activities and facilities.Β
