Goose Creek Man Arrested on 16 Counts of Child Porn

A Goose Creek man faces up to 130 years for 16 charges stemming from an child pornography investigation.
South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson announced Tuesday the arrest of Deangelo Cornell Young, 25, of Goose Creek on charges involving the sexual exploitation of a minor.
The Berkeley County Sheriffβs Office, a member of the Attorney General's Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, made the arrest. The Goose Creek Police Department assisted in the investigation.Β

According to a statement from the attorney general office, on Dec. 11 and 13, a Berkeley County Sheriffβs Office undercover detective downloaded five files containing child pornography from an Internet Protocol address for a cable account ultimately traced to the suspectβs residence. Officers executed a search warrant there on Jan. 23 and seized several items, including two laptop computers and three computer hard drives.Β
A preliminary examination of Youngβs computer allegedly revealed more than 400 videos containing child pornography and documents that included instructions on the sexual abuse of children. The attorney general's office reported Young later admitted downloading child pornography.Β

Young was arrested on Jan. 25 and charged with:
- Five counts of Sexual Exploitation of a Minor second degree, a felony offense punishable by two to ten (2 to 10) years imprisonment on each count
- and 11 counts of Sexual Exploitation of a Minor third degree (Β§16-15-410), a felony offense punishable by up to ten (10) years imprisonment on each count
He was assigned a surety bond of $160,000, and ordered to not have contact with children under age 17; stay away from the Internet and electronic devices such as cell phones, computers and electronic gaming devices; and remain at least one-half mile away from areas where children congregate, such as schools, libraries, playgrounds and parks. As of Tuesday, Young has not posted bail.Β
The investigation is ongoing.Β
