Goose Creek Video Poker Parlors Busted

Sheriff DeWitt cracks down on video poker parlors.

Five Goose Creek bars have had video poker machines confiscated in Monday's bust by Berkeley County Sheriff's Office.

Sheriff Wayne DeWitt put the parlors "on notice" two weeks ago, telling them to remove the illegal machines before they would be forcibly removed.Β Following a two week warning period the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office, in coordination with the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division, began its search for illegal gambling machines at locations in the county Monday.

Deputies raided several places suspected of having the machines at their businesses and confiscated eight video poker machines that were declared illegal over a decade ago. The crackdown is continuing throughout Berkeley County.
