An 11-year-old German Shepherd that died recently after an illness was remembered Wednesday at a memorial service at Joint Base Charleston.
Waldo, who was assigned to the 628th Security Forces Sqaudron, had been a part of the military since 2002 and became a fully certified Drug Detector Patrol Dog in 2003, according to the base's public affairs office.
Waldo, who had been deployed twice in support of Operation Enduring Freedom, had conducted more than 2,000 searches and did demonstrations for the local community.
