Mother of Pistol-Whipped Infant Calls Alleged Assailant a 'Monster'

Investigators slowed by inconsistencies in case.

The mother of an infant injured in an altercation has called the accused assailant "a monster,"Β 14 News reported.Β 

She told the news agency that after he attempted to rob her, he struck the child twice with his handgun.

"He then started to laugh. He tortured my child for no apparent reason so that makes himΒ a monster to me," she said.

The 11-month-old childΒ was allegedly injured after a private-sale-turn-robbery outside the Dollar General Monday night.Β 

But while the infant recovers from the injuries, Goose Creek investigators are having a hard time putting together a case, the TV news agency reported.Β

The investigation appears to be mired in inconsistencies. For example, the timeline of events seems to not match up, according to authorities. Police have identified the two men accused of the armed robbery and assault but not charges have been filed.Β
